Week 2: The Individual in the Society (Part 2)

Lesson Reflection: Handout 1.5 question 3 and Handout 1.6 question 3

What are you passionate about? How do the things you are passionate about help shape who you are?

Well, there are many things that I am passionate about. One of them would be building and painting model kits such as "Gundam" and "Warhammer 40k" (some people regard them as "toys" and I know some of the people who are reading this right now are thinking to themselves "Wow...Adrian is still so childish.). I have been building model kits since I was 7 and I still do it now. Building and painting model kits isn't as easy as it seems to be. It takes a lot of patience and time to build a model kit. This passion of mine has turned me into a person who is more patient in doing thinks.

Make a list of the adjectives that describe you. Which did you think of first? Which took you longer to think of? Why were you able to think of some adjectives more easily than the others?

1.Kind
2.Honest
3.Lazy
4.Sarcastic

This is my list of adjectives that I can think of  in a short period of time. The word "Kind" pop up in my mind when I first read the question. The second word "Honest"...well I am Honest for most of the time and yes, the third word is "Lazy". The last word is "Sarcastic". I am sarcastic most of the time. I was able to think of the word "Kind" first is because that was the word that I can relate to the most. I was only able to think of the word "Sarcastic" last because I am only sarcastic once in the blue moon and this is one word that some of my friends think of me.

Hey, there on the other side. Yes. I am talking to you. All I just want to tell you that it doesn't matter what you are passionate about, you are still part of this society. Having a passion that is different from everyone else's is what makes you, YOU. So don't be afraid to tell your passion to someone else. This is the end of my blog. See you in the next blog. XD

  1. 50% fulfilled. This is because, you did not answer the 2nd part of the question. I wish to know why 'sarcastic' is the last on your list. Was it something to do with people's view on you? Do you somewhat disagree to this view? Share your thoughts.

Lesson Reflection: -Share your identity chart and explain a couple of things about it. -Share the identity charts for Jonathan Rodriguez, C.J Duron, Julius Lester and Dalton Conley. This is my identity chart the words in blue are the identities that I can create for myself. On the other hand, the words in red are the identities that are beyond my control and I cannot change them. Week 8: The Great Depression

Lesson Reflection 8 What is the Great Depression? What caused it and how did it affect the Americans and the world? The Great Depression began with the stock market crash of 1929 and was made worse by the 1930s Dust Bowl. It was caused by the government which allowed people to use credit from the bank to buy goods. Thus, when people were not able to repay their debts, to the bank resulting the bank to enter bankruptcy. When this started, share markets plummeted and investor became bankrupt and most of the people there became poor. How does knowing more about the period in history helps you to understand the characters and setting from Chapter 1 to 7? It helps me have a clearer image of how the people back then lived. It tells me that most of the people were poor and lost all their money.

Week 10: Connection Question

Chapter 8 1. How does Hem respond to Atticus's compliment about the snowman? What does this suggest about their relationship? The compliment suggest that Atticus was happy and feels comforted. They are very close together. 2. What does the town's response to the fire at Miss Maudie's house reveal about Maycomb's universe of obligation in this chapter? A community's universe of obligation includes the circle of individuals and groups toward whom obligation are owed, to whom rules apply, and whose injuries call for amends. In other words, a community's universe of obligation consists of those its members believe are worthy of respect and protection. It will be difficult as Maycomb is a very prejudiced area. They simply hate black people just because of their colour. Chapter 9 1.What is Aunt Alexandra's vision for what is "lady-like"? How does Scout respond to that vision? What does Atticus think about Scout's conformity to gender...
