A community's universe of obligation includes the circle of individuals and groups toward whom obligation are owed, to whom rules apply, and whose injuries call for amends. In other words, a community's universe of obligation consists of those its members believe are worthy of respect and protection.
It will be difficult as Maycomb is a very prejudiced area. They simply hate black people just because of their colour.

They think of him as a physically weak person but mentally strong. He thinks Tom is innocent but knows that nothing can be done to persuade an all white jury.

2. Atticus instructs Scout and Jem that "it's a sin to kill a mockingbird." What does this advice mean? Look for evidence in the text to help you explain.
Because Atticus stats "Mockingbirds don't do one thing but make music for us to enjoy...but sing their hearts out for us. That's why it's a sin to kill a mockingbird." This statement shows that mockingbird are creatures that in a way helps us thus we are not to kill them.
